A massive crowd was stunned at Royal Randwick on Saturday as last year’s winner of The Everest, Think About It, fell during the race.
The crowd was shocked by the incident, which happened as the horses were rounding the home turn.
After suffering a bleeding attack, the horse fell to the turf. It was then beaten by Overpass, which was trained by Bjorn Baker.
The incident forced race officials to attend to the horse, who was taken back to his stall.
Adam Dobbin captured the moment when the crowd started cheering as the sprinter made its way off the track.
After he was dislodged, jockey Mark Collett immediately rushed to help the horse. He said he was initially worried that the horse might suffer a serious injury.
After the incident, Collett said he was surprised that the horse was able to walk back to the stalls. He then confirmed that the horse suffered a bleeding attack.
The incident was confirmed by the Racing NSW officials. The statement on X, which used to be a Twitter account, stated that the horse was recovering and was under veterinary care.
The officials of Racing NSW stated that Collett was not injured during the incident. He was then cleared to continue riding.
The spectators commended him for rushing to the horse after it fell. John Walter praised him for doing what he did without any hesitation.
