During an interview on Today, Karl Stefanovic referred to Lidia Thorpe, a Victorian Senator, as the most hated woman in parliament.
She said it was time for King Charles III to be removed from Australia’s head of state position.
The Channel 9 host noted that her controversial decision to confront the monarch was not gaining much support.
This comes after it was revealed that Lidia Thorpe had reportedly sworn an oath to the Queen’s hairs instead of her heirs.
Karl Stefanovic called Lidia Thorpe, a senator, the most hated woman in parliament during an interview on Today. She said that she wasn’t fussed by the revelation.
Thorpe, who referred to herself as the “black sheep” of politics, also said that she was used to being treated poorly.
Although she referred to herself as the black sheep of her family, Thorpe said that she was the one who sent a message to the king.
She added that her people were happy with the outcome, as they had been protesting for decades.
During the interview, Karl Stefanovic asked Lidia Thorpe why she didn’t just do everyone a favor and get out of Canberra.
She said that she was a proud black woman who would tell the truth.
According to her, Australia should grow up and get rid of the king. She then declared her allegiance to Queen Elizabeth II.
During the interview, Karl Stefanovic asked her if she felt any pain after she swore allegiance to the monarch.
She stated that she had consulted her relatives before making the decision.
She felt that it was inappropriate to pledge allegiance to a foreign nation whose ancestors had harmed her ancestors.
It was also unnecessary to pay the Governor-General a yearly salary to sign laws.
Karl Stefanovic then asked Lidia Thorpe how much was it that taxpayers had spent to bring a man to Australia.
He then said that she was well-paid to be in parliament and that she was a representative of a place that she despised.
