Matt Peacock, a veteran journalist for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, died on Monday at the age of 72.
He had a long career with the organization, working as a political correspondent in Canberra and London.
He also served as a foreign correspondent for the network.
Kim Williams, the ABC’s chair, paid tribute to Peacock, describing him as a courageous journalist who would always fight for the marginalised.
He also dedicated his career to informing people about the harmful effects of asbestos.
He was known for his passion for the ABC and for encouraging his colleagues to uphold the organization’s standards without compromise.
The entire ABC family is deeply saddened by his death.
