Heatwave warnings have been issued for parts of NSW, Queensland, and the Top End.
The Bureau of Meteorology warned that conditions could be extreme over the weekend in some areas, such as the Gulf Country and the outback regions of Queensland.
The highest temperatures are expected to occur in the Gulf Country and central regions of Queensland, with Mount Isa reaching 43 degrees Celsius.
In Longreach, the temperature is expected to reach 44 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
In NSW, the Northern Rivers town of Grafton is expected to experience temperatures of 31 degrees Celsius as thunderstorms approach.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop over the weekend in parts of NSW and South East Queensland. Byron Bay is predicted to receive up to 25 millimeters of rain on Monday.
A heatwave warning has also been issued for the regions of Western Australia, the Northern Territory, and Darwin.
It’s a combination of the warm weather and the threat of thunderstorms that comes as many state capitals are expected to experience balmy temperatures over the weekend.
Sydney is expected to reach 30 degrees Celsius on Saturday. The city’s high temperature is expected to reach 26 degrees.
Residents of Brisbane are also bracing for possible rainfall of up to 5 millimeters on Saturday.
The weather in Brisbane is expected to be favorable over the weekend and into next week.Thunderstorms are also predicted to affect the city on Friday and over the weekend.
Temperatures are expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius on Saturday. In the town of Dirranbandi, hundreds of residents were forced to leave their homes after a pair of grass fires started.
The fires were largely contained by the Queensland Fire Services on Wednesday.
However, they were still at an advisory level on Friday. Melbourne is expected to reach a high of 21 degrees Celsius over the weekend, while Adelaide is expected to experience temperatures of 26 degrees.
Temperatures are expected to reach 27 degrees Celsius in Canberra and 26 degrees in Perth over the weekend.
In the Northern Territory, Darwin is expected to experience temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius.
