A Tragic End to a Holiday in Greece
Dr. Michael Mosley, the popular TV doctor, tragically passed away during a holiday in Greece earlier this year.
The 67-year-old vanished on the small island of Symi after leaving his wife and friends to walk back to his accommodation.
A massive search operation ensued, but sadly, his remains were found four days later on a rocky ground just 100 meters away from a beach resort.
A Fortune Left Behind
Six months after his passing, it has been revealed that Dr. Mosley left his wife, Dr. Clare Bailey, a staggering £1.7 million (AU$3.4 million). According to documents, he left all of his assets, including cash, property, TV and book royalties, to his wife. If Dr. Bailey had passed away before him, his assets would have gone to their four children.
The Mysterious Circumstances of His Death
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Dr. Mosley likely died of heatstroke, but senior coroner Crispin Butler ruled his death as “indeterminate” and “unascertainable” in an inquest. If heatstroke wasn’t the cause, Butler suggested that Dr. Mosley could have passed away from a “non-identified pathological cause.” The coroner also confirmed that the death was not a result of homicide or suicide.
A Timeline of Tragic Events
Dr. Mosley and his wife had been staying with friends on Symi and decided to travel to Pedi Beach on June 5. The 67-year-old had intentionally left his phone behind as he didn’t want to get it wet on the ferry ride. About a month after his passing, Dr. Bailey spoke about her “overwhelming grief” in a heartfelt Instagram post, revealing that she and her family were trying to put their lives back together without Dr. Mosley.
A Life of Public Service and Legacy
Dr. Mosley was renowned in the UK for his work on several documentaries and programs on the BBC, including The One Show and Trust Me, I’m A Doctor. He also took part in the SBS series Australia’s Health Revolution in 2021, hosted the podcast Just One Thing, and was the bestselling author of The Fast 800. His legacy will live on, and his impact on the world of health and wellness will be remembered for years to come.
