Chloe Jade Mason, a 23-year-old woman, was brutally gunned down in a suburban street in Caboolture, leaving her family and friends devastated.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning, when police found her unconscious and not breathing on Railway Parade. Despite their efforts, she was declared dead at the scene.
Targeted Attack
Police believe Chloe was assaulted by two men, who chased her down the street and shot her in the middle of the night. The men are still at large, and detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward. According to Queensland Police Minister Dan Purdie, the attack was targeted, and the victim and offenders were known to each other.
A Life Remembered
Chloe’s sister, Dani, described her as “the most amazing person you could ever meet.” She added, “She didn’t deserve this, no one does.” Tributes have begun to flow on social media, with friends and family remembering Chloe as a beautiful and kind soul.
Former Partner’s Tragic Past
Chloe’s former partner, Kane Alexanderson, was stabbed to death in a gang brawl on Australia Day in 2020. His mother, Bianca, remembered Chloe as “absolutely beautiful” and said she was “life taken too short.”
Sister’s Heartbreaking Tribute
Chloe’s sister, Hannah McKone, paid tribute to her younger sibling, saying, “Grieving the life you never got to have and the experiences we didn’t get the chance to share. You would’ve been the most amazing mother.” Hannah has also started a fundraiser to help give Chloe a proper sendoff.
Investigation Ongoing
A homicide investigation has been launched, and police are appealing for information. Detective Inspector David Harbison said early investigations suggested Chloe was assaulted by two men, who may have chased her down Railway Parade. Police believe up to four gunshots were fired in the street.
Community Urged to Help
Police are urging anyone with information, particularly those who may have dashcam footage, to come forward. Minister Purdie said, “We need to make sure our police have all the resources and the laws they need to do their job and keep people safe.”
