A horrific incident has left a “hardworking family man” fighting for his life after he was doused with petrol and set on fire with a blow torch in a shocking alleged arson attack.
Jai Brebner, a devoted family man and the main breadwinner, remains in a critical condition at Fiona Stanley Hospital with burns to 60% of his body.
The Disturbing CCTV Footage
The disturbing CCTV footage of the attack, released by police, shows Brebner standing at his front door in Baldivis when two men approach him.
After a brief conversation, one of the men throws a clear liquid at him from a water bottle and then uses a blow torch to set him on fire.
Another man looks on, holding two axes, as a fireball engulfs Brebner. He can be seen tearing off his shirt and running for his life.
The Investigation and Arrests
The police have arrested two men in connection with the attack. David Stitson, 50, was arrested at a Perth hotel on Tuesday and has been charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm or prevent arrest, wounded or caused grievous bodily harm.
His 24-year-old alleged co-offender has been charged with one count of intending to cause grievous bodily harm. The police have confirmed that the incident was not gang-related and that the alleged attackers and Brebner knew each other.
