A devastating car accident occurred on Thursday at Ulverstone, on Tasmania’s north coast, leaving one man dead and several others injured.
The crash happened just before midday on the Bass Hwy, sending shockwaves through the community.
What Happened
The 68-year-old victim, a resident of Penguin, was a passenger in a car travelling on the highway when the collision occurred.
He suffered serious injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
The driver and another passenger involved in the crash sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the North West Regional Hospital for treatment.
The highway was closed for several hours following the incident but has since reopened.
Investigation Underway
Tasmania Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash and will prepare a report for the coroner.
The police have expressed their condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones, saying “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones.”
