Embarrassing Moment on National TV: Married at First Sight Groom Tries to Hide Blunder
Married at First Sight’s Ryan Donnelly had a night to forget when he dropped his bride, Jacqui, on the floor during their wedding reception.
And to make matters worse, the embarrassing moment was broadcast on national TV, despite his desperate attempts to stop it from airing.
The Cringeworthy Moment
The incident happened during the couple’s first dance as husband and wife. Ryan, 36, tried to dip Jacqui, 29, but lost his grip and dropped her on the floor, leaving their guests in shock.
“I’m going to dip you, ready?” he said, to which Jacqui replied, “Ok, in what way? You’re going to have to catch me, though.”
Unfortunately, Ryan failed to catch her, and Jacqui landed on her back with a thud.
Trying to Avoid National Ridicule
Ryan was mortified and immediately tried to get the footage removed from the show. He approached a producer and asked if they could “potentially discuss” leaving the moment out of the final edit.
“I’m not thinking of myself; I’m thinking of her,” he said. However, the producer just told him they would talk about it later.
A Desperate Plea
Ryan’s worries grew, and he met with the producer in another room, pleading with her to preserve Jacqui’s dignity.
“I dropped my bride; I’ve literally never dropped anyone in my entire life, so I don’t want to be that guy,” he said.
“I need to have a discussion with the production about preserving that woman’s dignity because that was not right… I don’t want those reactions to be the subject of national ridicule.”
The Aftermath
Despite Ryan’s efforts, the footage was still aired, and the episode ended with a cliffhanger. Viewers were left hoping that Ryan could recover from the embarrassing moment and focus on his relationship with Jacqui.
However, their marriage got off to a rocky start, with Jacqui listing off a long list of requirements for her new husband, including needing flowers delivered to her every month.
Ryan appeared to miss the memo, and their wedding photoshoot was filled with tension.
The question on everyone’s mind is: can Ryan and Jacqui overcome their disastrous start and make their marriage work? Tune in to find out.
