A terrifying incident occurred in Adelaide’s western suburbs on Tuesday morning, leaving a 9-month-old baby girl fighting for her life.
The infant was bitten by a dog on Ashley St, Torrensville, just before 8:30 am, and was promptly rushed to the Women and Children’s Hospital for treatment.
What Happened?
According to eyewitnesses, the attack happened in a quiet suburban street, close to a primary school and preschool centre.
The SA Ambulance Service confirmed that the baby was taken to the hospital after suffering a suspected dog bite. The current condition of the infant remains unclear, as SA Health has not released an official statement.
Community in Shock
Residents in the area are stunned by the incident, with many expressing concerns about dog owners who fail to secure their pets.
Jany Godi, a local resident, told reporters that it’s not uncommon to see dogs being walked without leads in the area.
“A lot of parents walk with their kids to school along here,” she said. “I think the owners really have to secure their dogs, because sometimes they can be aggressive. You never know what might happen.”
A Community Warning
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible pet ownership.
With many families living in the area, it’s crucial for dog owners to take necessary precautions to prevent such attacks from happening in the future.
As the community waits for updates on the baby’s condition, one thing is clear: dog owners must prioritize the safety of those around them.
