The heartbroken parents of a one-year-old baby girl who died after being left inside a car outside her Sydney daycare centre are speaking out about their devastation and grief.
Etienne Ancelet and Kim Visconti, the parents of baby Olivia, are still trying to come to terms with the horrific tragedy that unfolded less than 24 hours ago.
A Beautiful Life Cut Short
Olivia’s parents described her as a “sweet and beautiful baby” who was the light of their lives. “We are humbled and grateful for the time we had her,” they said.
“We are devastated by what has unfolded. We do not wish this on any parent.”
The family had recently celebrated Olivia’s first birthday on December 3 with a family celebration, making this tragedy even more unbearable.
A Horrific Discovery
The tragedy unfolded when Olivia’s father, Etienne Ancelet, arrived at the My Early Learning Centre in Earlwood to pick her up, only to be told she was not dropped off that morning.
It was then that he made the horrific discovery of his daughter’s lifeless body in the back of the car.
Neighbors who heard Mr. Ancelet’s screams rushed to his aid and attempted to perform CPR on Olivia.
Community in Shock
The community is in shock and outrage over the tragedy, with many calling for new car technology to prevent such accidents in the future.
The daycare centre, which is licensed to care for up to 36 children, has a good reputation with a KindiCare rating of 8.7 and a five-star average from parent reviews.
Investigation Underway
The couple is working with police as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding Olivia’s death. The police are still trying to determine how Olivia was left in the car and how this tragedy could have been prevented.
A Family’s Grief
The family’s grief is unimaginable, and their hearts are broken. “We will always cherish our time with our beautiful girl,” they said. “She was loved by all that knew her.” Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
