A devastating accident has shaken the community in regional South Australia, where a 49-year-old truck driver from Smithfield Plains lost his life in a fatal crash.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 5, around 11pm, when the driver’s B-double truck crashed into a tree on the Dukes Hwy near Brimbago.
What Happened
The truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash, and despite the best efforts of paramedics, the driver died at the scene.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated by Major Crash officers, who attended the site near Eckert Rd.
Road Closures and Investigations
The Dukes Hwy remains closed in both directions between Keith and Bordertown while investigators work to determine the cause of the accident.
However, it’s expected to reopen later on Thursday.
The truck driver’s death brings South Australia’s road toll to 13 this year, a sobering reminder of the importance of road safety.
