Popular radio host Kyle Sandilands has just shared a grim update on his health condition, and it’s got everyone talking.
Just days after revealing that doctors found an aneurysm in his brain, Sandilands has opened up about the intense surgery he needs to undergo to remove it.
The Risks and Challenges of Brain Surgery
Speaking on The Kyle & Jackie O Show, Sandilands explained that surgeons have only one option to remove the aneurysm: drilling a hole through his skull the size of a drinking glass.
Yes, you read that right – a hole in his skull! This is because the aneurysm is located at the front right side of his brain, and the shape of it limits the operation that can be performed.
The usual procedure of threading a coil through a vein won’t work in this case, so a more invasive surgery is required.
A Difficult Decision to Make
Sandilands’ doctors have advised him to think carefully about the surgery, as the risks are high.
If he doesn’t undergo the surgery, the aneurysm may not cause any problems, but if it ruptures, it could be disastrous. On the other hand, if he does undergo the surgery, his risk of complications increases.
It’s a tough decision to make, and Sandilands has been given the weekend to think about it.
More Health Issues to Worry About
But that’s not all – Sandilands also revealed that doctors have found another aneurysm in his chest, which will require a separate surgery.
And if that’s not enough, he also has a 25% chance of having a heart attack in the next five years due to calcium build-up in his heart.
His doctors have limited his coffee intake to just two cups a day, a big change from his usual 15 large cups daily.
What’s Next for Kyle Sandilands?
If Sandilands decides to undergo the surgery, he’ll need eight weeks to recover, which means he’ll be away from the KJ show for that period.
It’s a long and uncertain road ahead, but we’re all sending our best wishes to Kyle Sandilands for a speedy and successful recovery.
