Former radio star Ray Hadley has just shared some heartbreaking news with his fans – his three-year-old granddaughter Lola has been diagnosed with life-threatening cancer.
The little girl is currently undergoing treatment for leukemia, and the family is rallying around her during this tough time.
A Shocking Diagnosis
Lola’s diagnosis came out of the blue on January 6, leaving her family in shock. Ray Hadley described the moment as “like a bolt out of the blue.”
The toddler has already undergone numerous medical procedures, including a lumbar puncture and a biopsy, all under general anesthesia. She’s also had to endure multiple chemotherapy sessions, with four sessions per week.
A Family in Crisis
Ray Hadley’s daughter Laura, Lola’s mom, has given him permission to share their story, and the family is grateful for the outpouring of support from their community.
With three young children, including one-year-old Remi and seven-year-old Ava, Laura and her husband Brad Clark’s life has been turned upside down.
But despite the challenges, the family is drawing strength from little Lola’s resilience and smile.
The Road Ahead
The journey ahead will be long and tough, with Lola’s treatment expected to take two years. But Ray Hadley and his family are determined to stay strong and support each other through this difficult time.
They’re also grateful for the kindness of their local community, who have been offering help and support in many ways, from cooking meals to hosting fundraisers.
Showing Solidarity
When Lola inevitably loses her hair due to chemotherapy, Ray Hadley, his son Dan, and grandson Noah will shave their heads in solidarity with her.
It’s a small gesture, but it shows just how much the family is rallying around their little girl.
A Message of Hope
Ray Hadley wants to share his family’s story to let other families going through similar struggles know they’re not alone. “We’re in the same battle you’re in,” he said.
The family is grateful for the support and kindness they’ve received so far and hopes that by sharing their story, they can inspire others to do the same.
Support Pours In
The family has received messages of support from NSW Premier Chris Minns and Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, and a fundraiser organized by Coles in Morisset is just one example of the community’s kindness.
As Lola and her family face the challenges ahead, they know they’re not alone, and that’s giving them the strength to keep going.
