It’s wedding season for Australia’s favorite female soccer team, the Matildas!
Two of the team’s star players, Katrina Gorry and Ellie Carpenter, have tied the knot in stunning ceremonies that will make your heart skip a beat.
Love in Full Bloom
Katrina Gorry, a veteran player, exchanged vows with her long-time partner Clara Markstedt on Saturday on the beautiful Hamilton Island in Queensland.
The couple, who met while playing football in Sweden in 2022, looked absolutely gorgeous in their white gowns. Gorry rocked a daring two-piece ensemble, while Markstedt opted for a more traditional look.
The intimate ceremony was attended by close friends and family, and the couple couldn’t stop smiling as they celebrated their big day.
Post-Wedding Bliss
The newlyweds have been sharing adorable photos from their post-nuptials photo shoot, giving us a glimpse into their romantic shoreline shoot.
Gorry showed off her athletic physique in a plunging outfit, while the couple shared a sweet smooch, leaving us all gushing over their love.
A Week of Weddings
Gorry’s wedding comes just days after her teammate Ellie Carpenter tied the knot with her partner Danielle van de Donk in an elaborate celebration in France.
The couple, who went public with their relationship in 2023, announced their engagement in January 2024 and had been planning their big day ever since.
Carpenter took to Instagram to share photos of the happy couple, captioning them “I choose you. I always choose you.”
Matildas’ Love Fest
The Matildas seem to be having a love fest, with Emily van Egmond and her partner Kat Thompson also getting married in December last year.
It’s clear that love is in the air for these talented soccer players, and we couldn’t be happier for them!
Upcoming Matches
But don’t worry, the Matildas aren’t letting their personal lives get in the way of their game.
The team is set to face off with Slovenia in a two-match series on home soil on June 26, followed by a two-match series with Panama beginning July 5.
Gorry, who missed the last Matildas window to prepare for her wedding, is expected to be available for selection for the upcoming window in Perth.
