A devastating skydiving accident has left a community in shock after a mum-of-four and her instructor plummeted 4,572 metres to their deaths.
The tragedy occurred during a tandem skydive at an airfield in Devon, and the entire incident was caught on camera.
The Heartbreaking Moment Caught on Film
The footage of the accident will play a crucial role in the investigation into the tragedy. Belinda Taylor, 48, and her instructor Adam Harrison, 30, were killed instantly when their tandem skydive turned disastrous.
The jump was a gift from Belinda’s partner, Scott Armstrong, who was watching in horror as the tragedy unfolded.
A Gift Gone Wrong
Scott had bought the skydive as a thank you present for his “adrenaline junkie” girlfriend.
He revealed that the jump was captured on film and that he had demanded to see the footage after realizing what had happened.
However, police arrived at the scene, and Scott was unable to view the video.
The Accident Unfolds
The company promises to capture the descent from various angles, but in this case, the footage is now a crucial part of the investigation.
Scott described the moment he saw the tragedy unfold: “They were the last group to go up. I was using binoculars and saw them all jump and noticed that one chute hadn’t opened. I was freaking out.”
A Desperate Search
Scott rushed to the scene with his son and found Belinda and Adam lying in a field, still together, but clearly dead.
The sight was horrific, and Scott was left devastated by the loss of his partner. Belinda, a grandmother-of-two, had three adult sons and a teenage daughter.
The Investigation Continues
The police have launched an investigation into the tragedy, and enquiries are ongoing. Adam, the instructor, had been working with Skydive Buzz since September 2020 and was also training as a chiropractor.
A passenger who jumped from the same plane as the victims described them as “lovely bright people, full of smiles and jokes.”
A Community in Shock
The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the community, with many left wondering how such an accident could occur.
Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and the cause of the accident is still unknown.
As the community mourns the loss of two young lives, one thing is clear: this tragedy will have a lasting impact on all those involved.
