A devastating accident has occurred on a quiet country road in northern New South Wales, leaving a man dead and a woman hospitalized.
The incident happened on Friday at around 3:50 pm, when a silver Ford Ranger ute rolled over near the intersection of Elcombe Road and Royal Oak Road, close to Bangheet, about 90 kilometers east of Moree.
The Fatal Accident Unfolds
Emergency services, including NSW Police, rushed to the scene to find the wreckage of the ute.
Despite extensive CPR efforts by paramedics, the 56-year-old male passenger tragically died at the scene.
The female driver, aged 47, was treated by paramedics and airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, where she is currently in a stable condition.
Others Involved in the Accident
Fortunately, two other female passengers in the vehicle, aged 9 and 25, escaped the ordeal without injuries.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many expressing sadness and concern for the families involved.
Investigation Underway
A crime scene was established, and specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit examined the area to determine the cause of the accident.
As part of their investigation, police are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dashcam or mobile phone footage of the incident.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
In particular, police are looking to speak to the driver of a green, early-model dual cab with a flat tray, which was last seen traveling north on Elcombe Road towards the township of Gravesend.
