A dramatic turn of events has unfolded in the case of Tanika Kristan Bromley, one of the two individuals charged with the murder of 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop.
In a surprising move, Bromley’s legal team initially requested to revoke her bail on separate weapons charges, only to reverse their decision hours later.
What Happened in Court?
On June 23, at the Bundaberg Magistrates Court, Bromley’s lawyer, Alexandra Sanders, first applied to have her client’s bail revoked.
The court approved the application, but in a shocking twist, a second application was lodged, reinstating the bail.
According to Police prosecutor Senior Constable Andrew Powis, the initial request was made to allow time spent in custody to count towards any potential future sentence.
However, this strategy was quickly abandoned, and the bail was reinstated.
Who is Tanika Bromley?
Bromley, 33, is currently on bail for the weapons offenses and is also being held in custody on murder and misconduct with a corpse charges related to Pheobe Bishop’s disappearance and alleged killing.
She and her partner, James Wood, claimed to have dropped the teen at Bundaberg Airport on May 15, but investigators say this was a lie.
Human remains were later found in remote bushland, confirmed to be Pheobe’s.
A Look into Bromley’s Life
Bromley’s online presence reveals a woman living a rural lifestyle in the Bundaberg region, with ties to Gin Gin, Wagga Wagga, and surrounding areas.
She was previously married and had taken her husband’s surname before reverting to her maiden name, Bromley.
The case has been adjourned until August 11, where both the weapons and murder matters are expected to be heard.
What’s Next?
As the investigation continues, the community remains in shock over the alleged events surrounding Pheobe Bishop’s disappearance and death.
Bromley and Wood are both charged with murder and two counts of misconduct with a corpse.
The upcoming court date is expected to shed more light on the case, and the public is eagerly awaiting justice for Pheobe and her family.
