Phoebe Bishop, the 17-year-old allegedly murdered by her housemates, will be laid to rest in a funeral service in southern Queensland on Monday afternoon.
The “free-spirited” girl’s family and friends will gather to pay their respects, wearing bright colors to celebrate her life.
Phoebe was last seen on May 15 near Bundaberg airport, where she had booked a trip to Western Australia to visit her boyfriend.
However, Queensland Police allege that her housemates, Tanika Bromley and James Wood, drove Phoebe close to the airport but never left the car.
Tragically, Phoebe was allegedly murdered, and her body was moved multiple times from the Good Night Scrub National Park, an hour’s drive from the airport.
Phone data led officers to focus their search on the park, where Phoebe’s remains were finally found on June 6.
Throughout the long and emotional search, Phoebe’s mother, Kylie Johnson, promised to bring her daughter home.
A Mother’s Heartfelt Plea
Now, as the family prepares to say their final goodbye, Kylie Johnson is urging others to cherish every moment with their loved ones.
“I would tell people to hug their kids a little tighter, tell them you love them multiple times a day, watch that silly movie, dance to the song, and capture every moment in your memories,” she said in a statement.
The family has requested a “media blackout” during the funeral service, which will be attended by hundreds of people who have gathered in recent weeks to pay their respects to Phoebe.
Multiple candlelit vigils have been held across Bundaberg and Gin Gin, remembering how Phoebe lived life to the fullest.
Wood, 34, and Bromley, 33, remain behind bars, charged with murder and interfering with a corpse. They will face court on August 11.
