Tragedy Strikes Melbourne Community
A devastating incident has shaken the lives of a Melbourne family and community after a 16-year-old boy, Diego Dinelli, lost his life in a tragic accident.
The incident occurred on July 4 on Tucker Rd, Bentleigh, where Diego was celebrating the end of term with his classmates from McKinnon Secondary.
A Heartbroken Mother’s Plea
Diego’s mother, Teresa Svoronos, has taken to social media to express her overwhelming grief. In a heart-wrenching post, she wrote, “I’m so broken without you my boy.
It’s not fair! Who takes their child before their mother. You will always be my Sonshine.”
She also shared that Diego had been at a barbecue before the accident, highlighting the vibrant and adventurous personality of her son.
A Bright Life Cut Short
Diego’s mother described him as a healthy and vibrant boy who had his whole life ahead of him. He had just gotten his learner’s permit and was eager to start driving lessons.
He was also looking forward to his first underage event and had plans to start work experience. The community is still trying to come to terms with the loss of this young life.
Investigation Underway
The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The driver of the ute, a 23-year-old Ormond man, was interviewed by police and released pending further inquiries. Victoria Police have confirmed that there are no updates to the investigation as yet.
They are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.
Community Support
A GoFundMe page has been set up by a family friend to support Diego’s family, and it has already raised almost $10,000.
The community is rallying around the family, offering their condolences and support during this difficult time. Diego’s friends and family have taken to social media to share their memories and tributes to the young boy who was taken too soon.
A Date That Will Never Be Forgotten
In a poignant coincidence, July 4 was also the date that Diego’s father passed away eight years ago. His mother has found comfort in the thought that her son is now with his father, safe and not scared.
As the community continues to mourn the loss of this young life, they are also coming together to support each other and celebrate the memories of Diego Dinelli.
