Disturbing footage has emerged of a fast food worker in Russia spitting into a burger before serving it to a customer.
The stomach-churning incident took place at a Tasty Dot drive-through in Rostov, where the worker, named Nikita, was preparing two quarter-pounders.
The Disgusting Act
Nikita was caught on camera glancing around to make sure no one was watching before leaning in and spitting onto one of the patties.
He then topped the burger with a slice of cheese, hiding his saliva, and boxed it up before passing it through the window to the customer.
The incident occurred after the customer had a heated exchange with Nikita while placing his order, prompting the diner to film his order being prepared.
Fired and Condemned
Nikita was promptly fired by the Tasty Dot branch, and the incident sparked outrage across Russian social media, with users slamming the former employee and raising concerns about hygiene standards at the new chain.
Tasty Dot confirmed Nikita’s sacking, stating that “his actions did not live up to our values.”
A Dark History
Tasty Dot was born out of the corporate exit of McDonald’s from Russia in 2022, following Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
McDonald’s had operated in Russia for 30 years, but the company cited the “unpredictable operating environment” and “humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine” as reasons for its departure.
The replacement brand, Tasty Dot, kept most of the same layout and look as McDonald’s, minus the Golden Arches, but this latest scandal risks tarnishing its image.
As one disgusted social media user put it, “Bring back McDonald’s. At least they didn’t serve up burgers with DNA toppings.”
