Saudi Arabian Prince Alwaleed bin Khalid bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, known as the “Sleeping Prince,” has passed away at the age of 36 after spending 20 years in a coma.
The prince’s tragic story began in 2005 when he was involved in a horrific car accident in London, where he was studying at the time.
A Life-Changing Accident
The accident left Prince Alwaleed with severe brain injuries and internal bleeding, which led him to fall into a coma at just 15 years old.
Despite receiving top-notch care, the prince never fully regained consciousness and remained in a coma for two decades.
A Family’s Devotion
Throughout the years, Prince Alwaleed’s family reported minimal signs of movement, such as him lifting a finger, but he never showed any significant improvement.
Despite a recent hoax that went viral online claiming the prince had woken up from his coma, he sadly passed away on Saturday.
A Royal Farewell
A funeral will be held on Sunday at the Grand Mosque in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, according to the Royal Court.
The royal court expressed their condolences, saying, “Allah bestow His mercy, forgiveness, and satisfaction upon him and grant him a place in His spacious gardens.
To Allah, we belong, and to Him, we shall return.”
