SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – Australian actor David Argue, renowned for his roles in films such as ‘Gallipoli’ and ‘BMX Bandits’, has passed away at the age of 65 after a battle with cancer.
Argue’s distinguished career spanned decades, with his first feature film role in the 1981 war drama ‘Gallipoli’, where he played the character ‘Snowy’.
He went on to star alongside Nicole Kidman in the 1983 film ‘BMX Bandits’.
In addition to his film credits, Argue had a prolific television career, starring in shows such as ‘Cop Shop’, ‘The Sullivans’, ‘Cluedo’, and ‘Water Rats’.
He was also an accomplished stage actor, performing in productions including ‘Hair – The Tribal Love Rock Musical’ and ‘The Country Wife’.
According to a GoFundMe page created by Argue in January, the actor had been struggling with health issues, including poor circulation and leg pain, which made walking increasingly difficult.
He was seeking assistance to purchase a mobility scooter to improve his daily life.
Tributes have poured in from the entertainment industry, with Australian film distribution company Umbrella Entertainment describing Argue as a “comedic genius” who had a unique ability to bring characters to life on screen.
The Victorian Actors Benevolent Trust also paid tribute, saying Argue was a “remarkably talented and much-loved actor” who will be deeply missed.
