Sydney, New South Wales – A severe weather system is expected to hit New South Wales this weekend, bringing heavy rain and damaging winds to the Mid North Coast, The Hunter, and Sydney.
A flood warning has been issued for the region, with the worst of the system expected to hit on Saturday evening.
The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted up to 80mm of rain for Sydney, with the possibility of flash and river flooding.
Residents are advised to stay safe on the roads, as visibility will be reduced due to heavy falls.
Authorities have issued a Severe Weather Warning for the mid-north coast and the Hunter Valley, with particular locations such as Port Macquarie, Taree, Scone, Comboyne, Nowendoc, and Gloucester expected to be affected.
There is also a Hazardous Surf Warning for the Macquarie Coast.
Temperatures in Sydney will be around 17 degrees, but will feel lower due to wind chill.
The rain gauges in the Harbour City could be higher than initially forecast, with a further 25mm expected on Sunday.
In other parts of the country, Darwin will have a warm and sunny day with tops of 31 and lows of 20, while Brisbane will experience temperatures of up to 19 degrees with sunny spells.
Canberra is expected to wake up to sunny spells and highs of 13 from a low of 4, with drizzle forecast throughout the day.
Melbourne will have a mild day with highs of 15 and lows of 6, with overcast skies.
