LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Loni Anderson, Emmy-Nominated Actress and ‘WKRP in Cincinnati’ Star, Dies at 79 Loni Anderson, the acclaimed actress and beloved star of the hit television comedy ‘WKRP in Cincinnati,’ has passed away at the age of 79.
Anderson’s family announced her death, which occurred at a Los Angeles hospital following a prolonged illness.
She was just shy of her 80th birthday.
Anderson was best known for her portrayal of Jennifer Marlowe, the empowered receptionist at a struggling Ohio radio station, in ‘WKRP in Cincinnati.’
The show, which aired from 1978 to 1982, afforded Anderson two Emmy Award nominations and three Golden Globe nominations for her iconic performance.
Aside from her notable television work, Anderson also appeared on the big screen, most notably alongside Burt Reynolds in the 1983 comedy ‘Stroker Ace.’
The two were married from 1988 to 1994 and had a son, Quinton Reynolds, together.
In addition to her on-screen accomplishments, Anderson was also an author, having written the autobiographical ‘My Life in High Heels’ in 1995.
The book chronicled her tumultuous marriage to Reynolds and her personal growth as a woman.
Anderson is survived by her husband, Bob Flick, her daughter Deidra, son-in-law Charlie Hoffman, son Quinton Anderson Reynolds, grandchildren McKenzie and Megan Hoffman, stepson Adam Flick, and step-grandchildren Felix and Maximilian.
A private family service will be held at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
Fellow actress Morgan Fairchild, who co-starred with Anderson in Lifetime’s ‘Ladies Of The 80s: A Divas Christmas’ in 2023, remembered Anderson as “the sweetest, most gracious lady!
I’m just devastated to hear this.”
