CARLINGFORD, SYDNEY – A construction site accident in Carlingford, Sydney’s north-west, has resulted in one fatality and left another person fighting for their life.
Paramedics responded to a call at a Meriton construction site on Pennant Hills Road around 9 am this morning, where they found two men – one in his 30s and the other in his 40s – with severe injuries after a concrete pump fell on them.
The man in his 30s was rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital, while the other was taken to Westmead Hospital.
Both were in critical condition, with the 30-year-old subsequently succumbing to his injuries.
Merriton, the construction company, expressed deep sadness over the incident and extended condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the victims.
In a statement, the company confirmed it is cooperating fully with SafeWork NSW and relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The NSW Police have established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the incident, with the matter referred to SafeWork NSW.
Authorities have appealed for public assistance in providing information about the incident.
