Off-Duty Police Officer Charged with Shoplifting in Sydney’s West
A New South Wales police officer has been charged with shoplifting while off duty, following an investigation into an alleged incident at a chemist in Blacktown, Sydney’s west.
Incident Details
On Wednesday, 11 June 2025, at approximately 3:50 pm, the 23-year-old constable, attached to a specialist command, visited a chemist on Patrick Street, Blacktown.
It is alleged that the officer left the store without paying for an item.
An investigation was launched after Blacktown Police Area Command was notified of the incident.
Following extensive inquiries, the officer was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for one count of shoplifting on Friday, 8 August 2025.
Consequences and Next Steps
The officer has been suspended with pay, and their employment status is currently under review.
The constable is scheduled to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Thursday, 18 September 2025.
