Man Seriously Injured Protecting Elderly Father from Armed Intruder in Melbourne
In the incident, which occurred on Ridley St, Albion, around 8:10 pm, the intruder, believed to be in his 40s, allegedly entered the home armed with a knife.
The 84-year-old occupant was alerted to the intruder’s presence by his dog’s barking and refused to hand over his car keys when demanded.
The intruder then punched the elderly man in the face.
Intruder Confronted and Overpowered
The 50-year-old son, who lives next door, heard the disturbance and rushed to his father’s home.
He confronted the intruder, who stabbed him multiple times.
Despite his injuries, the son managed to overpower the intruder and hold him down until police arrived.
The 50-year-old was taken to hospital in a serious condition, while the intruder was also taken to hospital under police guard with serious injuries.
The 84-year-old suffered minor injuries and was also hospitalised.
Investigation Underway
Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and no charges have been laid.
Neighbours reported hearing a commotion and seeing police and ambulances arriving at the scene.
CCTV footage shows police arriving at the home, with one officer yelling “drop it”.
