Kent ‘Smallzy’ Small to Bid Farewell to Nova After 23 Years
Radio personality Kent ‘Smallzy’ Small is set to depart Nova after a remarkable 23-year association with the network, bringing an end to his 13-year stint as host of the national evening program Smallzy’s Surgery.
Smallzy, who joined Nova in 2002 after starting in community radio in western Sydney at just 16, confirmed his decision to leave the network on Monday, revealing that his final program will air on Friday, August 15.
The Sydney-based presenter expressed his gratitude to listeners, saying “the time has come to hang up the headphones.”
A Legacy of Success
During his time at Nova, Smallzy’s Surgery consistently topped its timeslot, achieving an impressive 92 number one survey results.
The program was praised for its unique take on pop culture, music, news, and celebrity gossip, thanks to Small’s extensive connections with high-profile artists and entertainment figures.
Nova Entertainment credited him with effectively creating the current 8pm to 10pm national format.
Farewell Week and Future Plans
To mark Smallzy’s departure, Nova will air a week of retrospective content revisiting notable moments from the program’s history.
The station has not announced a replacement for the evening slot, with speculation centreing on former KIIS FM presenter Mitch Churi and Nova weekend presenter Jermaine.
Small’s final episode of Smallzy’s Surgery will air on Friday, August 15, from 8pm to 10pm on Nova.
