Unconventional Wedding Fundraiser Raises Over $132,000 for Charity
In a bold move, Idaho-based digital entrepreneurs Marley Jaxx and Steve Larsen sold $1,000 tickets to their wedding weekend extravaganza, raising a staggering $132,000 for charity.
The couple, who tied the knot on August 1, said they aimed to “disrupt” the multi-billion-dollar wedding industry and make a positive impact.
The funds will be donated to Village Impact, an organization dedicated to building schools in Africa.
From Social Media to Charity
Jaxx, 34, initially joked about selling tickets to her wedding on Instagram, but the idea gained traction.
The couple decided to invite their 192,000 combined followers to pay for an in-person seat at their exclusive celebration.
Roughly 30 guests purchased $1,000 “VIP” vouchers, while others opted for lower-priced admission options.
The funds will cover the costs of building classrooms in Africa, with each classroom requiring $15,000.
The couple has already visited Africa with Village Impact and hopes to return in July 2026 to build more classrooms.
A Unique Celebration
The wedding weekend included a range of unusual offerings, such as romance counseling sessions, a “Biohacking Brunch” featuring red-light therapy and breath work tutorials, and a $20,000 bio-charger energy rehabilitation.
The couple’s family and friends were granted full access to the three-day celebration, while ticketed guests enjoyed select events.
Although some critics accused the couple of making a “mockery” of marriage, Jaxx and Larsen believe their unorthodox approach has generated significant goodwill and charity.
They plan to travel to Kenya next year to build classrooms with the funds raised.
