Father Stabbed by Machete-Wielding Gang in Melbourne Home Invasion
In a shocking incident that has left even senior detectives shaken, a father was stabbed 11 times with a machete while trying to defend his family against a gang of intruders who broke into their Melbourne home.
The 39-year-old victim, who suffered a broken arm and severe facial cuts, will require eye surgery.
His wife and two toddlers, aged two and three, were forced into separate rooms during the ordeal.
Police Condemn Brazen Attack
Victoria Police’s Detective Sergeant Leeanne Trusler described the incident as “awful” and “beyond a joke.”
Trusler emphasized that the attack was not premeditated, with the gang of five, including teenagers, randomly targeting the family’s home on Oxford Street in Kew East.
“They’re not used to people fighting back, and this home owner fought back,” Trusler said.
“It’s gotta stop.
This has got to stop.
Someone is going to be seriously hurt.
Well, someone has now been seriously hurt.”
Investigation Ongoing
Three individuals, including two teenage boys aged 16 and 17, and a 24-year-old man from Caroline Springs, are currently being questioned by police.
Authorities are urging anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to come forward and assist in the investigation.
Victoria’s Opposition Leader Brad Battin condemned the increasing violence in aggravated burglaries, stating that the incident has left the entire state feeling unsafe.
