Floodwaters Claim Lives of Father and Son in NSW as August Rain Records Threatened
The accident occurred late yesterday, and police divers discovered the car around 11:20 am today.
Authorities have warned residents to avoid floodwaters, citing the unpredictable nature of the water and the potential for hidden dangers.
“We don’t know what’s under this water… how deep it is, how fast it’s flowing, so it’s incredibly important that everyone stays out,” said NSW SES Deputy Commissioner Debbie Platz.
Rainfall Records Under Threat as Storms and Flooding Continue
Residents north of the river have been advised to prepare for potential isolation.
A high-pressure system lingering in the Tasman Sea, combined with deepening surface troughs onshore, has created a severe and widespread wet weather event.
Higher falls are expected closer to the coast, with conditions expected to stabilise in the coming days.
Flood Rescues and Emergency Response Efforts Underway
The severe weather has driven more people to volunteer, with over 300 applying to the SES after floods in Taree and surrounding areas in May.
As the wet weather continues, authorities remain on high alert, urging residents to prioritize their safety above all else.
