Brent Hinds, Former Mastodon Guitarist, Dies in Motorcycle Crash
Brent Hinds, the influential former guitarist and vocalist for the American heavy metal band Mastodon, has died at the age of 51.
His death was the result of a motorcycle accident in Atlanta, Georgia, on Wednesday, August 20, a fact later confirmed in a statement from his former band.
According to police reports, Mr. Hinds was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle when the driver of an SUV failed to yield while making a turn at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Boulevard.
The Fulton County medical examiner’s office confirmed he died as a result of the collision.
Band and Music Community Mourn Loss
In a statement, the members of Mastodon said they were in a “state of unfathomable sadness and grief” over the loss of their former bandmate, whom they described as a “creative force.”
They asked that the privacy of his family, friends, and fans be respected during this difficult time.
