Homicide Investigation Underway in North Brisbane After Woman’s Death
Investigators have launched a homicide inquiry following the death of Carra Luke, 48, who was found unresponsive in a bedroom at a Taigum residence early Saturday morning.
A 52-year-old man, known to the victim, is currently assisting police with their investigation.
Authorities were called to the Osprey Place address around 12:30 am, where paramedics attempted to revive Ms. Luke but unfortunately, she died at the scene.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Acting Assistant Commissioner Rhys Wildman confirmed that the 52-year-old man was taken into custody and is cooperating with police.
However, he has not been formally charged and his role in the incident is still under investigation.
Separate crime scenes have been established at the Taigum residence and an address on Hackman Street in McDowall.
The State Emergency Service (SES) has been engaged to search the surrounding area.
Neighbour’s Tribute and Community Impact
Neighbour Jackson Hughesman described Ms. Luke as a “kind and loving person” who would go to great lengths to help others.
He expressed the community’s devastation at her loss, adding that she will be deeply missed.
Acting Assistant Commissioner Wildman acknowledged the traumatic impact of the incident on first responders and vowed to provide support services to the frontline officers who attended the scene.
