Tennis Fan’s Shameful Act Sparks Widespread Outrage at US Open
A disturbing incident at the US Open has sparked anger and disbelief among tennis fans and players alike, after a male spectator was caught on camera snatching a match-worn cap from a young boy.
The cap had been generously gifted to the child by Polish tennis player Kamil Majchrzak, who had autographed it after his surprise win over ninth seed Karen Khachanov on Saturday.
Heartless Act Caught on Video
The shocking incident was captured on video, showing the boy’s excitement as Majchrzak handed him the cap, only for the man standing beside him to snatch it away and shove it into a woman’s bag.
The boy’s distressed reaction was clear as he yelled at the man, “What are you doing?”
Meanwhile, Majchrzak continued signing autographs, oblivious to the fact that the boy had not received the keepsake.
Tennis Star Takes Action
After learning about the incident, Majchrzak took to social media to appeal for help in finding the young boy.
He wrote, “After the match, I didn’t record that my cap didn’t get to the boy… Hey, guys, could you help me find the kid from my match.”
Thanks to the power of social media, the boy was located just an hour later, and Majchrzak expressed his gratitude for the swift resolution.
Majchrzak will face Swiss player Leandro Riedi in his next match on Sunday, where a win would secure his spot in the fourth round and mark his best-ever result at the US Open.
