“It’s an absolute tragedy,” said a Sydney Airport spokesperson, who confirmed that the airport was working closely with authorities to support the investigation. “Our thoughts are with the worker’s family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.”
NSW Police established a crime scene, with specialist police examining the area, although the incident is not being treated as suspicious. A statement from Qantas, the airline taking responsibility for the international freight terminal where the incident occurred, expressed condolences to the worker’s loved ones and confirmed they were working closely with authorities.
