Office Depot has fired an employee who was caught on camera refusing to print flyers for a vigil honouring slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The employee, who identified herself as a store manager, told the customer that the company doesn’t print “propaganda” – sparking outrage online.
The incident occurred at an Office Depot store in Portage, Michigan, where a customer had placed an order for flyers advertising a vigil for Kirk, who was shot dead while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.
In the viral video, which has been viewed over 4.4 million times, the employee can be heard telling the customer: “Yeah, so, we don’t print propaganda.” When asked what makes the posters propaganda, she replied: “Because he’s a political figure.”
Office Depot has since apologised for the incident, saying the employee’s behaviour was “completely unacceptable and insensitive” and “violates our company policies”. The company has also reached out to the customer to “address their concerns and seek to fulfill their order to their satisfaction”.
The posters in question featured a black-and-white image of Kirk, 31, with the phrase “The Legendary Charlie Kirk 1993-2025”. The incident has sparked a fierce backlash online, with thousands calling for the retailer to take action.
“On behalf of the Company, we sincerely apologize for this regrettable situation,” Office Depot said in a statement. “We have reached out to the customer to address their concerns and seek to fulfill their order to their satisfaction.”
