OUTRAGE ERUPTS: Disney and Hulu FACE MASSIVE BOYCOTT as Furious Viewers CANCEL Subscriptions Over Jimmy Kimmel Fiasco
- Thousands take to social media to share cancellation receipts and slam Disney and Hulu over perceived attack on free speech
- Conservatives outraged over Jimmy Kimmel’s comments on Charlie Kirk’s murder, with FCC chairman branding them “the sickest conduct possible”
- Disney’s ABC pulls Kimmel’s show from the air indefinitely, sparking widespread backlash and calls for a boycott
In a dramatic turn of events, Disney and its subsidiary Hulu are facing a massive boycott as furious viewers cancel their subscriptions in droves. The move comes after ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show from the air indefinitely, sparking outrage among conservatives who feel the comedian’s comments on Charlie Kirk’s murder were an attack on free speech.
The controversy began when Kimmel made comments about Tyler Robinson, the man charged with killing Charlie Kirk, during his opening monologue on September 15. “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said.
Conservatives were quick to take issue with Kimmel’s implication that Robinson was MAGA-affiliated, with authorities yet to confirm a motive for the shooting. FCC chairman Brandon Carr slammed Kimmel’s remarks as “the sickest conduct possible” in an interview on a conservative podcast.
The backlash was swift, with Nexstar Media, one of ABC’s largest affiliate groups, announcing it would not air episodes of Kimmel’s show. Shortly after, ABC pulled the plug on the program altogether.
In a show of solidarity, thousands of social media users began posting pictures of their cancellation receipts under the hashtags #CancelDisney and #CancelDisneyPlus. “Cancel your Disney and ABC subscription for what they did to Jimmy Kimmel. Let them know how p**sed off you are!!!!” wrote one user on X.
The boycott has now extended to Hulu, which is owned by Disney. Many are calling for a boycott of the streaming service under the hashtag #CancelHulu, citing concerns over Disney’s perceived attack on free speech.
As the fallout continues, one thing is clear: Disney and Hulu are facing an unprecedented backlash from viewers who feel their values have been disrespected. Will the media giants be able to weather the storm, or will this boycott have long-lasting consequences for their reputation and bottom line?
