- Police seize multiple firearms from his wife Amalia Freeman’s home, fuelling fears of further violence
- Reward of up to $1 million offered for information leading to Freeman’s arrest as massive manhunt continues
In a shocking development in the search for accused cop killer Dezi Freeman, police have seized multiple firearms from the home of his wife, Amalia Freeman. The chilling revelation has sent shockwaves through the community, with authorities still desperately searching for the sovereign citizen who allegedly shot and killed two police officers in north-east Victoria last month.
According to the Herald Sun, the guns were seized by police around the time a major search was launched to locate Freeman, also known as Desmond Filby. The weapons were not used in the shooting incident that claimed the lives of Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson, 59, and Senior Constable Vadim De Waart, 35.
A Victoria Police spokesperson refused to comment on the matter, citing the ongoing investigation. However, it has not been alleged that Amalia Freeman, also known as “Mali”, has committed any firearms offences.
In a statement issued by her lawyer to media, Amalia Freeman urged her husband to surrender, saying: “My children and I respect the important work of Victoria Police and do not hold anti-authority views. We echo the requests of the Victoria Police for the swift and safe conclusion of this tragedy.”
The search for Freeman has been one of the largest in Australian history, with police scouring through bushland, caves, mineshafts, huts, and gorges in a bid to track down the alleged gunman. A reward of up to 1 million has been offered for information leading to his arrest.
