- Free Country Organic Beef Mince 500g recalled after plastic found inside the meat
- Made Real Wholefood Balls and Smooshed Wholefood and Protein Balls pulled from shelves due to metal fragments and glass contamination
- Consumers warned not to eat the products and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund
A popular brand of beef mince sold in IGA supermarkets has been urgently recalled after pieces of plastic were found inside the meat, posing a serious health risk to consumers. The recall affects Free Country Organic Beef Mince 500g from Auspork Australia Pty Ltd, with a best before date of September 28.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) issued the recall warning, stating that consumers should not eat the product. Shoppers who have purchased the mince can return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
This is not an isolated incident. In the past seven days, FSANZ has issued a number of recalls due to contamination of food products. Two health snacks, Made Real Wholefood Balls and Smooshed Wholefood and Protein Balls, were pulled from shelves after metal fragments were found inside. The products were sold at Aldi Stores across NSW, ACT, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia.
In a separate incident, a popular dumpling was recalled last Friday after glass was found in it. A batch of Urban Eats Japanese Style Vegetable Gyoza 750g was affected, with best-before dates ranging from April 10, 2027 to June 15.
Consumers are advised to check their pantries and fridges for these products and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Food safety experts warn that consuming contaminated products can lead to serious illness or injury.
