- Foodies are buzzing with excitement, recalling their international encounters with the iconic chain, and some are already planning their trip to the Open just to taste the burgers!
Twenty-five years after its humble beginnings as a hot dog cart in New York’s Madison Square Park, Shake Shack is finally bringing its gourmet burgers to Australian shores! The iconic US chain will make its highly-anticipated debut at the 2026 Australian Open, and food enthusiasts can’t wait to sink their teeth into the famous ShackBurger.
The pop-up will feature the signature single cheeseburger, boasting a smashed Angus beef patty, melted American cheese, tomato, lettuce, and the secret ShackSauce, all served on a toasted potato bun. But that’s not all – an exclusive Australian Open Shake will also be available, only at TOPCOURT in January.
sociales media users are already raving about the news, with one enthusiast exclaiming, “Just tried it in Kuala Lumpur, amazing burgers. Can’t believe they haven’t come to Australia sooner!” Another fan revealed, “Had Shake Shack in Singapore. Loved it!”
While some are eagerly anticipating their first bite, others are concerned about the potential price tag, jokingly suggesting a “sausage sizzle” instead. Amidst the excitement, some critics argue that Australia should focus on showcasing its own cuisine.
Shake Shack’s arrival marks the first time an international burger chain has made its way to the Australian Open. The event will also see the return of the beloved Peach Melbourne dessert, Grey Goose Lemon Ace Cocktail, and a range of other mouth-watering options from local and international vendors.
“We’re committed to making the AO not just the best Grand Slam on court, but also the best off-court, and food and drink are central to that experience,” said Tennis Australia’s Head of Product Growth and Innovation, Fern Barrett. “From headline international debuts such as Shake Shack, to our popular AO exclusive items like Peach Melbourne and Grey Goose Lemon Ace, we’re offering something fans can only experience at the AO.”
Get ready for a culinary spectacle at the 2026 Australian Open – it’s going to be a taste sensation like no other!
