Anthony Albanese and Penny Wong’s SHOCK Praise for Donald Trump: ‘He Deserves Congratulations’!
- PM Albanese hails Trump’s leadership in brokering historic Gaza peace deal
- Twenty Israeli hostages and 28 bodies to be reunited with loved ones on Monday or Tuesday
- Trump proclaims ‘everlasting peace’ after clinching deal to end bombardment of Gaza
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has stunned many by heaping praise on US President Donald Trump, crediting him with brokering a historic peace deal in Gaza. In a remarkable turnaround, Albanese told reporters in Brisbane that Trump ‘deserves congratulations’ for his role in ending the bombardment of Gaza and securing the release of Israeli hostages.
‘I just want to say that I very much welcome this breakthrough,’ Albanese said. ‘We have called for some time for a ceasefire, for the release of hostages, for aid to be granted. That needs to happen, and we also need to talk about the day after, which requires a two-state solution.’
Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong also weighed in, saying Trump had played a crucial role in fortifying the peace agreement between Israel and Hamas. ‘President Trump has got this over the line,’ she said on Sky News. ‘It is an extraordinary achievement and one that people around the world are supportive of, and it will bring hope where there has been despair for the people of Gaza.’
Trump, never one to shy away from taking credit, proclaimed ‘everlasting peace’ after announcing the deal, which will see 200 US troops stationed in the Middle East to support Israel and monitor the peace deal. The Israeli government has agreed to a ceasefire and hostage deal with Hamas, just days after the second anniversary of the October 7 massacre.
In a dramatic twist, Hamas chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya, who was targeted by Israel last month, announced an end to the war, saying the militant group had received assurances from international mediators that the fighting would ‘end permanently’. The Israeli Defence Forces are set to withdraw to an agreed line, with the peace deal expected to be formally ratified by the Israeli! cabinet.
Trump’s dramatic intervention has sparked speculation that he may be in line to win the Nobel Peace Prize, an award that has eluded him despite his numerous claims to have brokered historic deals.
