Chaos erupted on Perth’s streets on Friday evening when a car ploughed into three pedestrians at a busy intersection, leaving a trail of destruction and desperation in its wake.
The accident occurred at approximately 7:10pm at the intersection of West Coast Highway and Manning Street in Scarborough, a northwestern suburb of Perth. Witnesses described the scene as “horrific” as a two-year-old girl, a 20-year-old man, and a 38-year-old man were struck by a car.
The 38-year-old male pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition. The 20-year-old man sustained minor leg injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
The two-year-old girl, who was also assessed by paramedics, was later taken privately to Perth Children’s Hospital for further medical attention. The condition of the young girl is not yet known.
The alleged driver of the Lexus, a 76-year-old woman, stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their investigation. She was not injured in the incident.
