MURDER MYSTERY: Server Crash Wipes Out Thousands of Pages of Evidence in Pheobe Bishop Case, Causing Trial Delay
- James Wood’s defence team claims their server crashed, losing critical evidence in the murder case of 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop.
- The trial has been delayed until February next year, sparking outrage among the victim’s family and friends.
- Co-accused Tanika Bromley’s case has also been adjourned until January, leaving many questioning the competence of the defence team.
In a shocking development, the trial of James Wood, 34, who is accused of murdering 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop, has been delayed until February next year due to a catastrophic server crash that wiped out thousands of pages of critical evidence. The defence team, led by Matt Maloy, claimed that their server had collapsed, resulting in the loss of the prosecution’s evidence.
“The service it’s on collapsed, so they’ve had to reissue a full brief of evidence and it’s still going through,” Mr Maloy explained in court. However, police prosecutor Sergeant Donna Sperling disputed this claim, stating that the brief had already been disclosed, but had to be re-disclosed due to the defence team’s technical issues.
The case has sparked widespread outrage among the victim’s family and friends, who are frustrated by the delay. Pheobe Bishop went missing in May, and her body was later found in Goodnight Scrub National Park. James Wood and co-accused Tanika Bromley, 33, are both charged with her murder, as well as interfering with a corpse and unrelated weapons charges.
In a separate hearing, Tanika Bromley’s case was also adjourned until January next year, leaving many questioning the competence of the defence team. As the trial continues to be delayed, the family and friends of Pheobe Bishop are left waiting for justice.
“We just want justice for Pheobe,” said a family friend, who wished to remain anonymous. “It’s been a long and difficult journey, and we’re frustrated by the delay. We just want to see those responsible held accountable.”
