In a horrific crash on a remote highway, one man has lost his life and five others, including two young children, are fighting for their lives in hospital. The devastating accident occurred on Monday evening when two cars collided on the Victoria Highway near Lake Argyle in Western Australia’s Kimberley Region.
Major Crash Investigation officers were deployed to the scene, where they found a white Toyota Fortuner and a white HiLux had crashed, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. A police spokesman revealed that a 49-year-old passenger in the HiLux suffered critical injuries and tragically died at the scene.
In a desperate bid to save lives, a 36-year-old male driver and 27-year-old female passenger from the HiLux were airlifted to Darwin hospital with critical injuries. Meanwhile, two children in the Fortuner were flown to Perth with critical injuries, along with a 30-year-old female driver who suffered serious injuries.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers,” a police spokesman urged.
