In a devastating turn of events, a 44-year-old man has confessed to the brutal murder of a talented young lawyer whose lifeless body was discovered in a luxurious hotel room at Crown Towers in Perth. Alice McShera, 34, a beloved family law specialist, was found with severe head injuries, police believe caused by a blunt instrument, in the upmarket complex on October 30, 2023.
Security staff had been alerted to check the room after a family member raised concerns, and it was there they made the grim discovery. Tragically, it was too late to save Alice. Her accused killer, Cameron John Pearson, was found in the same room, suffering from serious self-inflicted injuries.
Alice’s colleagues at Murray Chambers in Perth’s CBD, where she worked, described her as a “much-loved colleague and friend”. Her senseless murder has sent shockwaves through the legal community and left her loved ones heartbroken.
In a packed public gallery, Pearson pleaded guilty to one count of murder in the WA Supreme Court. He was remanded in custody and is set to be sentenced on March 17 next year. As the family and friends of Alice McShera struggle to come to terms with their loss, they will be seeking justice and answers to the senseless brutality that robbed them of a bright and talented life.
