Bondi Beach Bloodbath: Father-Son Gunmen Received Military-Style Training in Philippines Before Killing 15
- Father of two Sajid Akram and his son Naveed, 24, underwent secret militant training in the southern Philippines last month
- Their trip was just weeks before they unleashed terror on Bondi Beach, killing 15 innocent people in a shocking Hanukkah celebration massacre
- The Akrams’ links to an international jihadist network are now being probed by investigators, with chilling revelations about their connections to notorious Islamic State recruiters
In a stunning development, it has emerged that the father-son duo behind the devastating Bondi Beach attack underwent military-style training in the Philippines, a hotbed of Islamist militants, just weeks before the massacre.
A senior counter-terrorism official has confirmed that Naveed and Sajid Akram travelled to the southern Philippines, where they received training in militant tactics, fuelling fears of an international jihadist connection.
The revelations come as investigators delve deeper into the pair’s ties to a notorious jihadist network, including their connections to infamous Islamic State recruiter Youssef Uweinat and spiritual leader Wisam Haddad, who has denied any involvement in the attack.
In a disturbing admission, a senior security source revealed that Naveed Akram had been on the radar of Australia’s intelligence agency, ASIO, in 2019 over his associations with a Sydney-based IS terrorist cell, but was deemed not to pose an immediate threat.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has claimed that ASIO found “no evidence” of radicalisation during a six-month investigation, but questions are being raised about how the pair were able to slip under the radar and carry out such a devastating attack.
Meanwhile, Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke has refused to confirm whether the pair’s travel to the Philippines had raised any red flags, fuelling concerns about a possible security lapse.
The shocking attack on Bondi Beach has left the nation reeling, with 15 innocent lives lost and countless others affected by the senseless violence.
