EXCLUSIVE: Meth Queen Caught Red-Handed at Sydney Airport with $13 MILLION Haul of Ice in Her Luggage – But Is She Just a Pawn in a Much Larger Game?
- A 40-year-old woman from Bonnyrigg has been arrested at Sydney International Airport with a staggering 15kg of methamphetamine in her luggage.
- The alleged meth queen was caught on Boxing Day after Australian Border Force officers searched her bags and found 18 vacuum-sealed bags labelled “tea” containing the illicit substance.
- The estimated street value of the haul is a whopping $13 million, with the potential to fund 150,000 individual street deals – but experts warn she may just be a small fish in a much larger operation.
In a shocking development, the woman was stopped by authorities after raising suspicions at the airport, with officers discovering the massive stash of methamphetamine hidden in her luggage.
“Presumptive testing of the substance returned a positive result for methamphetamine, with an estimated weight of 15kg,” a spokesperson for the Australian Federal Police (AFP) revealed, as the true extent of the alleged smuggling operation began to unravel.
The woman, who is expected to face court on Saturday, has been charged with one count of importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug – an offence that carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
AFP Detective Superintendent Morgen Blunden issued a stark warning to would-be smugglers, saying: “Individuals or groups offering money to move luggage are not to be trusted, and the reward is not worth the consequences.”
Blunden also highlighted the devastating impact of drug smuggling on communities, saying: “Trafficking drugs in your luggage, either knowingly or unknowingly, is a criminal offence, and if caught, you face losing some of the best years of your life sitting in a prison cell either in Australia or overseas.”
Australian Border Force Superintendent Elke West praised the work of her officers, saying: “No matter how these drug traffickers attempt to conceal and move their drugs, our profiling and intelligence holdings means we will always be one step ahead and we will continue to prevent dangerous drugs from reaching our community.”
As the investigation continues, experts are warning that the woman may be just one piece in a much larger puzzle – with the true masterminds behind the operation still at large.
