- Bloody bodies of a man and woman in their 30s found in Quakers Hill home, with police launching a murder investigation
- 47-year-old man arrested and being questioned over the brutal killings, with a knife found at a nearby service station
- Neighbours heard screams and crashes before ‘pure silence’ descended on the usually quiet street
In a devastating morning of violence, two people have been found stabbed to death in a home in Sydney’s north-west, with a 47-year-old man arrested and being questioned over the brutal killings.
Emergency services were called to the Quakers Hill property just before 5am on Sunday after reports of a disturbance, where they found a critically injured man lying on the footpath with stab wounds. Despite the best efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, the man died a short time later at Liverpool Hospital.
Tragically, a woman was found dead in the kitchen of the home, with police revealing that the two victims were in a relationship. The exact nature and duration of their relationship is yet to be confirmed, but Superintendent Jason Joyce described the incident as “very sad” and said the male suspect was previously in a relationship with the female victim.
“We believe that the deceased female and the deceased male were in a relationship,” Superintendent Joyce said. “We’re not sure what type of relationship or the duration of that relationship.”
Neighbours reported hearing a commotion in the early hours of the morning, with one resident, Arafel Kane, saying he heard “a couple of brief crashes” before a woman screamed. “There was a couple of brief crashes … and then a lady screamed,” he said. “Then there was just pure silence until the police arrived about 20 minutes later.”
The usually quiet street was left reeling in shock, with Mr Kane saying, “Just to know that it can happen anywhere … is awful.”
A crime scene has been established, and detectives have launched an investigation into the incident. The 47-year-old man is currently being questioned at Blacktown Police Station, with a knife found at a nearby service station in Woodcroft.
