Melissa Mae Carlton, a devoted mother and influencer, has shared the devastating news of her daughter Molly’s passing on Christmas Day, just a year after her big sister Abigail’s sudden death. The 9-year-old’s suspected cause of death is a genetic heart condition, leaving the family in a state of numbness and disbelief.
Mrs Carlton, who often shares her family’s life on social media, took to Instagram to reveal the tragic news, saying that Molly was “reunited” with her sister Abigail. The family is still reeling from the loss of Abigail, who died unexpectedly from sepsis on April 11, 2024, at the tender age of 9.
In a heartfelt post, Mrs Carlton expressed her devastation, saying, “I feel numb. I cannot yet accept that this is real. I am not ready for this pain.” She also shared a poignant conversation with her son Harry, who revealed that Molly had told him she wanted to be with Abigail, saying, “She got what she wanted.”
Mrs Carlton has been open about her faith, stating that she shared the news to highlight the power of prayer. “We were on our way to the hospital, and at that point, we thought she was already gone. And yet, I still believed God could grant a miracle if it was His will. I held onto that faith right to the very end.”
The family is still seeking answers, with doctors suspecting that Molly may have had a genetic heart condition, which could have also been the case with Abigail. Mrs Carlton hopes that sharing this information will help other families who have experienced sudden unexpected death in children.
Despite the tragedy, Mrs Carlton expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, saying, “We are absolutely overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and prayers we have received. It’s hard to even comprehend. I’m not sure it’s physically possible to get back to every message, but from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”
